Job summary

Frederick Health Hospital, Inc. is hiring a Physician Assistant for Employer Solutions in a full-time capacity. The PA will perform exams, order and interpret tests, and provide treatment under physician supervision in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include patient education, documentation in EMR, and coordination with emergency departments and specialists. Licensure in Maryland, DEA, and BLS are required; hospital/outpatient experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified Physician Assistant with current MD license.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Maryland CDS license.
• BLS certification through AHA or equivalent.
• Clearability to practice in any state without suspensions.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams and assess patients including urgent, emergent, and non-urgent presentations.

• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medications, and vaccines with supervision.
• Refer patients to PCP or specialists as appropriate.
• Perform procedures such as laceration repair, IVs, splinting, casting, and ear irrigations.
• Maintain up-to-date medical knowledge for urgent care settings.
• Explain procedures and discuss test results with patients.
• Document findings in EMR and follow-up notes.
• Interact with medical practices and ER physicians to coordinate care.

Description

Job Summary

• Perform physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent, and non-urgent presentations.
• Select, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests including X-rays as appropriate in collaboration with supervising physician.
• Analyze reports and findings of tests to diagnose patients in collaboration with supervising physician as appropriate.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury in collaboration with supervising physician.
• Refers patient to PCP or specialist as appropriate.
• Perform procedures including laceration repair, IVs removal of foreign bodies, splinting and casting, and ear irrigations.
• Utilizes practice guidelines and standardized procedures in collaboration with the supervising physicians in providing medical care to patients.
• Performs DOT physicals.
• Explain procedures, discuss test results, and prescribe treatments to patients.
• Document findings and treatment courses in patient electronic medical records including follow-up notes.
• Interact with medical practices and emergency room physicians to create a cooperative atmosphere.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for medical conditions and injuries that may be present in an urgent care setting.
  

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must have knowledge of computer skills. Experience with prior electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred.
• Maintains the necessary CME credits to maintain licensure.
• Must demonstrate ability to stay organized; is able to multi-task effectively.
• Must demonstrate time management, conflict resolution, and trouble shooting skills.
• Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:

• Physician Assistant: Certification of completion from an approved Physician Assistant program .
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Maryland Controlled Substance license.
• Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association or an approved training center.
• License to practice in any state that has never been suspended or revoked.
• Has not been excluded from participation from any Payers.
• 1+ years of experience in hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
