The role you’ll contribute:

Evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages a wide range of medical conditions. Prescribes medications, develops patient treatment plans, interprets test results, and collaborates with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. Provides medical care under physician supervision, conducts physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and educates patients and families about healthcare issues, disease management, and prevention.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in daily inpatient rounds, including patient history, physical exams, reviewing labs and diagnostics, medication reconciliation, procedures, and order entry.
• Mentor and educate team members.
• Inpatient consultation and admission as directed by the physician.
• Document all patient encounters accurately.
• Pre-operative evaluation and optimization of patients.
• Manage acute, chronic, and surgical patient concerns, including admissions, diagnostics, developing treatment plans, medication management, and patient education.
• Assist in surgical procedures as a First/Second Surgical Assistant, including cardiothoracic surgeries, transplants, and other complex procedures.
• Participate in transplant team meetings, research, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Provide ongoing education and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Required:

• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program
• Post-graduate surgical residency or equivalent clinical experience
• Experience in cardiothoracic surgery preferred

Licensure and Certification:

• National Certification of Physician Assistants required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Physician Assistant license required
