Job summary

Hoag Health System in Newport Beach/Irvine, CA is seeking a Colorectal Physician Assistant to join a growing colorectal surgery team. The role involves working alongside colorectal surgeons and other specialties in a patient-centered environment to deliver exceptional surgical and outpatient care for the community.

You will provide histories, exams, and follow-ups; assist in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal procedures; and coordinate inpatient rounds with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current California Physician Assistant license or eligibility for licensure.
• NCCPA certification required.
• DEA certification or ability to obtain.
• 2+ years of surgical or colorectal surgery experience required.
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient histories, physical examinations, and follow-up evaluations.
• Diagnose and manage colorectal conditions under physician supervision.
• Assist in developing treatment plans and patient education programs.
• First assist in colorectal surgical procedures, including minimally invasive and robotic surgeries.
• Perform inpatient rounds and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams.
• Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
