Job summary

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach is seeking a dedicated Operating Room Assistant to support the perioperative team by transporting patients, preparing equipment, and helping with room turnover under licensed staff.

You will coordinate supplies, assist with patient positioning and prepping, and serve as a central communication resource for nurses, physicians, and surgical team members to help deliver safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Skills and knowledge of equipment related to the surgical/procedural environment.
• 1 year of patient care experience in a hospital setting or 6-month experience as Operating Room/CathLab Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients throughout the perioperative area and assist with patient flow.
• Prepare, clean, assemble, and maintain specialized surgical equipment and supplies.
• Perform room turnover and ensure procedure rooms are ready for the next case.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and transfers under the direction of the RN, physician, or surgical technologist.
• Coordinate specimen transport and support case readiness.
• Maintain inventory and stock supplies for assigned surgical modalities.
• Serve as a central communication resource and provide patient support while awaiting procedures.
