Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies or like degree is required.
• One year of full-time, satisfactory clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.
• Valid NYSED license and current registration to practice as a Physician Assistant.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Life Support certification (BLS/ACLS) required within sixty days of appointment.

Responsabilités

• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations.
• Develops assessment and therapeutic plan and provides ongoing patient care.
• Orders and interprets labs, x‑rays, EKGs, and writes prescriptions per protocols.
• Performs procedures including blood draws, suturing, biopsies, and access placements.
• Initiates consultations and referrals for special testing.
• Participates in rounds, updates charts, writes orders and notes.
• Attends team conferences and grand rounds.
• Assists with IR and CT procedures, communicates with providers, prioritizes care.
• Counsels patients and families on prevention, treatment, and medications.
• Assists supervising physician and other procedures within scope.
• Performs BLS and ACLS as needed in emergencies.
• Obtains informed consents for procedures and IV contrast.
• Makes follow-up calls to assess patient status post-procedure.
• Assists with patient positioning before surgery.
• Provides orientation to new physician assistants and staff.
• Participates in chart audits and QA activities.
• Participates in continuing education and staff training.
• Engages in clinical research activities when appropriate.
• Performs related administrative duties as required.
