Job summary

Wellpath is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive medical care to inmates under supervision in a correctional setting. This role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and mental health professionals, patient privacy, and adherence to protocols in a secure environment.

You will participate in emergency care, documentation via EMR, and quality improvement activities while maintaining licensure, DEA registration, and lifesaving certifications as required. Based in New York, U.S.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited education program for PAs.
• Active PA license and DEA registration.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience; correctional/detention facility experience preferred.
• Current BLS and PALS (as applicable) certification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver acute and emergency medical care to inmates.
• Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated.
• Document all findings using SOAP and EMR systems.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Provide cross-coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments.

The PA collaborates with physicians and mental health professionals, ensuring clinical documentation and treatment align with protocols. They maintain patient privacy and contribute to quality improvement activities. The role also involves emergency care coordination and psychiatric assessment support.

• Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice
• Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
