Job summary

Wellpath / Correct Care Solutions seeks a Physician Assistant to deliver comprehensive medical care to inmates under supervision. You will evaluate and treat acute and emergency cases, collaborate with physicians and mental health staff, and ensure documentation aligns with protocols.

The role requires PA licensure, DEA registration, and BLS/PALS where applicable, with prior correctional/detention facility experience. Join a mission-driven team focused on compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited PA education program.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a correctional/detention facility.
• Unrestricted PA license with current DEA registration.
• Current BLS and PALS certifications where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver acute and emergency medical care in accordance with protocols.
• Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated.
• Document all findings using the SOAP method and EMR systems.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Provide cross-coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments.

How you make a difference

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive medical care to inmates under the supervision of medical leadership. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute and emergency complaints, participating in administrative meetings, and supporting cross-coverage needs. The PA collaborates with physicians and mental health professionals, ensuring clinical documentation and treatment align with protocols. They maintain patient privacy and contribute to quality improvement activities. The role also involves emergency care coordination and psychiatric assessment support.

Qualifications & Requirements

EDUCATION

• Completion of an accredited education program for PAs

EXPERIENCE

• Previous correctional/detention facility experience
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice
• Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
