Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY seeks a Physician Assistant to provide inpatient pediatric care at the Children’s Hospital, under supervision of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. The PA will manage diverse cases in general pediatrics and subspecialties, including post-operative patients.

Requirements include a Bachelor's or higher, NYS PA license, NCCPA certification, and graduation from an accredited PA program. Hours are three 12.5-hour night shifts per week (6 PM–7:30 AM).

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on inpatient pediatric units.

• Perform tests and procedures (venipuncture, lumbar puncture, sutures) as needed.
• Interpret diagnostics and consults and educate/discharge patients.
• Co-manage postoperative patients with pediatric teams.

We are currently seeking a Physician Assistant to provide patient care on the inpatient units at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, under the general supervision of the Chief of Service of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and the Pediatric attendings. The PA will provide direct patient care to a diverse population with a wide variety of diagnoses, in the areas of general pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties, as well as co-management of patients admitted for post-operative management. The PA will be responsible for clinically assessing patients, determining preliminary diagnoses, implementing management plans, performing tests and standard procedures (e.g. venipuncture, lumbar puncture, suture removal, etc), obtaining and interpreting diagnostic/radiologic testing and consults, and providing patient education and discharge counseling. The PA team works collaboratively with the pediatric resident teams. The PA will be a part of a growing quaternary care children’s hospital focused on providing comprehensive, family-centered care to infants, children and adolescents.

• Bachelors Degree or higher
• Graduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program
• Registered as a Physician’s Assistant in New York State
• National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants certificate **
• Hours: Three 12.5 hour night shifts per week (combination of weekdays and weekends)- 6pm-7:30a
