Job summary

2020 Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a dedicated Critical Care Physician Assistant to provide clinical services to critically ill patients in both surgical and medical ICUs. This role involves direct patient care and collaborative treatment planning.

Job description

Position Summary

The Critical Care Physician Assistant (Critical Care PA) will provide direct clinical services to critically ill patients with multi‑organ or multi‑system disease failure in adult surgical and medical ICUs at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital.

Schedule and Compensation

Work shift: Night (varying hours). Scheduled daily hours: 12.5 hours. Hourly rate: $76.69, subject to shift differential, experience, education or other factors.

Responsibilities

• Documentation of patient health histories and complete physical examinations
• Formulate and implement treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with supervising physician
• Assess patients' change in status and institute appropriate interventions
• Initiate necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patients
• Provide family‑centered care, communicating with family regarding changing health‑care needs of their family members
• Perform approved diagnostic, therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on patient’s clinical status

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant school
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Concentration in Critical Care / Emergency Medicine and Master’s Degree preferred
• Registered as a Physician’s Assistant in New York (NCCPA certified)
• DEA license, CPR‑BLS, NPI, NCC PA required
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care
• Prior experience as a PA in Critical Care is a plus
