Summary

The Anesthesiologist is responsible for the perioperative management of surgical patients, including airway management and acute pain management at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be considered tentatively. Current VA-employed physicians meeting previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completed residency in an approved program leading to board eligibility
• English proficiency
• Preferred: Board Certified/Eligible in Anesthesiology

Duties

• Administer general and regional anesthesia, including invasive monitoring
• Manage arterial and pulmonary artery catheters
• Supervise CRNA staff, residents, and students
• Assess, prepare, and monitor patients for anesthesia
• Communicate effectively with staff and management
