Job description

Summary

The Anesthesiologist is responsible for the perioperative management of surgical patients, airway management at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN, and acute pain management.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met previous standards are deemed qualified.

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completed residency training in an accredited program leading to board eligibility
• Proficiency in English
• Preferred: Board Certified/Eligible in Anesthesiology

Duties

• Administer general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and manage invasive monitoring
• Supervise CRNA staff, residents, and students
• Assess, prepare, and monitor patients for anesthesia
• Manage perioperative and critically ill patients, diagnose and treat pain syndromes
• Communicate effectively with staff and management
• Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Information
