Job summary

Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, CA seeks a Physician Advisor to promote evidence-based medical standards while optimizing utilization of hospital resources.

You will collaborate with Medical Staff, Nursing, and Administration to remove barriers and enhance clinical credibility for the Care Coordination department. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this role requires strong communication and relationship-building skills and working knowledge of acute-care care

Qualifications

  • Licensed physician (MD or DO) in California is required.
  • Experience in care coordination or hospital utilization is preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills essential.

Responsibilities

  • Promote evidence-based standards of medical care while ensuring appropriate resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with Medical Staff, Nursing, and Administration to improve care delivery.
  • Support regulatory and quality considerations in care coordination activities.
  • Report to the Chief Medical Officer and participate in performance evaluations.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Physician Advisor at St. Mary Medical Center, you will play a critical role in promoting evidence-based standards of medical care while maintaining appropriate utilization of Hospital resources. This is a cornerstone and highly visible position and you will play a vital role in advocating for the best and most efficient care for Hospital patients, removing barriers to care, working with attending physicians to facilitate care of the patient, and advocating for, supporting, and enhancing the clinical credibility of the Department of Care Coordination's utilization and compliance activities.


Every day, you will facilitate and foster a culture of communication and partnership between the Department of Care Coordination, Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, and Administration regarding systems-based practice, and regulatory and quality considerations in the delivery of medical care. This position will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer and participate in an annual performance evaluation using performance metrics adopted by Hospital.


To be successful in this role, you will need to have working knowledge of acute-care Care Coordination, and possess stellar communication and relationship building skills.
