Additional Job Description

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery seeks a General Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of broad-spectrum general surgery with expertise in both elective and emergency general surgery care. The hired surgeon will participate in general surgery call through an acute care surgery model with an anticipated daytime call of one week per month and overnight call of one weekend per month. The practice serves as a referral base for complex general surgery care throughout the state and surrounding region. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a general surgery residency program and be comfortable with managing both elective and acute general surgery patients. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible by the American Board of Surgery. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
