Job summary

Maimonides Medical Center is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine physician to join the Department of Ambulatory Care at our 7th Avenue outpatient location. The role includes direct patient care, teaching residents and students, and supervising medical staff with a focus on comprehensive primary care.

The candidate should have an MD/DO, board certification in Internal Medicine, NYS license, DEA and Medicaid numbers.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care with attention to age-appropriate care across the patient population.
  • Teach and supervise medical residents and students rotating through the division.
  • Provide consultation, coordination, and continuity of care within ambulatory and teaching settings.
  • Complete documentation in patient medical records and participate in discharge planning as appropriate.
  • Attend and participate in department and system events and committees.

Overview

Maimonides Medical Center is seeking a full time Internal-medicine trained physician in the Department of Ambulatory Care to join our 7th avenue outpatient location. With an established patient panel in place, responsibilities include direct patient care, as well as teaching and supervision of medical residents and students. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to provide a full scope of primary care services including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care and health maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served
  • Diagnoses, treats and prescribes for patients in area of specialty within the limits of privileges; serves as attending physician of record for patients with no private attending
  • Diagnoses, treats and prescribes for patients in specialty clinics as required; admits patients to hospital, becoming attending physician of record for such patients as necessary
  • Provides night and weekend on-call coverage according to established schedule to ensure continuation of quality patient care for the service
  • Completes all documentation in patient medical records
  • Educates and counsels patient, family and care givers on medical condition, medications prescribed, plan of care and follow-up to treatment; participates in discharge planning process as appropriate.
Consultation

Participates in consultative services of department and division, recommending and/or performing special studies, tests; participates in interpretation of test and study results.

Education/Training
  • Supervises, teaches and evaluates fellows, residents and medical students rotating through the division as directed; prepares and delivers subspecialty lectures and conferences; participates in Grand Rounds and conducts teaching rounds as required
  • Assists in managing and conducting training programs; recommends changes in curriculum structure as appropriate and participates in developing new educational programs
  • Supervises Physician's Assistants and residents as required; reviews and signs off on PA and resident charts; performs other chart reviews as directed.
Faculty Practice

Develops and practices in department's Faculty Practice, including outreach facilities as assigned.

Research

Engages in clinical research and, where applicable, in basic research projects; directs and/or supervises research fellows as appropriate; publishes and presents results of research projects in a timely manner.

Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement

Assists Chairperson and/or Director in establishing procedures to ensure consistency and quality of all

services provided by the department and/or division; participates in Medical Center's Quality

Assurance program in accordance with the policies of the Medical Center and regulatory agencies.

Administration
  • Attends and participates in Medical Center and department committees as required by the Director or Chairperson
  • Works with Director or Chairperson to develop protocols and standards of care that are in compliance with requirements of JCAHO and other regulatory agencies
  • Assists Chairperson and/or Director in departmental administration as required; recommends modifications or upgrades to equipment, implementation of new procedures; prepares reports and analyses as required
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
Qualifications

Candidates must have an MD/DO degree and be board certified in Internal Medicine with a valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number. We offer a faculty appointment with SUNY Downstate with credentials, experience and qualifications.Cantonese/Mandarin language skills are preferred.

Pay Range

USD $240,000.00 - USD $240,000.00 /Yr.
