We are seeking experienced Physician to join our professional team! Part time position available (5.5 Hours per week).
Site: Joliet Job Corps Center – Physician Support Services, Joliet, IL.
Education and Experience
- Active license to practice as a Physician in the state of Illinois.
- Experience providing physician health services for adolescents and young adults who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
Schedule
Provider must be able to meet the center’s schedule as outlined below (CST):
- Wednesday: 10:00–1:30 pm (5.5 hours per week).
Essential Job Functions
Provide medical services and act as medical director, supervising staff in accordance with state practice, rules and regulations. Guide the Health and Wellness Program and ensure quality of care. Oversee assessment, treatment, emergency care, and case management for all students.
- Assessment and diagnosis of illness and injury, including:
- Cursory medical evaluation within 48 hours after student entry.
- Entrance physical examination within 14 days of entry using approved history and physical forms.
- Required laboratory studies: hemoglobin/hematocrit; pregnancy test (all females); Pap smear (all females ≥ 21 years); chlamydia and gonorrhea testing; HIV testing; urine drug screen.
- Immunizations, including incomplete series boosters and hepatitis B vaccine for health‑occupations training students.
- Tuberculin skin test (Mantoux).
- Vision and hearing screening.
- Daily walk‑in clinic and appointment system for episodic illness or injury assessment.
- Inpatient unit visits for minor conditions such as respiratory infections or flu symptoms.
- Treatment—including primary emergency care, first aid, CPR, and secondary care within the staff’s capabilities. Referral to off‑center physicians for specialized assessment.
- Management of chronic health conditions as directed by qualified health professionals.
- Access to prescription medications.
In the event of a student’s on‑the‑job injury requiring extensive or specialized treatment, the student will be medically separated with reinstatement rights and referred to the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP).
Additional Requirements
- Review applicant folders for students with chronic or acute health conditions.
- Complete Recommendation of Denials for applicants whose health needs cannot be met.
- Offer all currently available methods of contraception for students, either on‑center or by off‑center referral.
- Review and annually approve Health Care Guidelines written for use by health and non‑health staff, including approval of personal authorizations of staff trained to utilize the guidelines.
- Collaborate with wellness staff on students with co‑occurring diagnoses.
- Consult with center director at least monthly to discuss clinical and organizational issues.
- Attend National Department of Labor/Humanitas conference calls and/or online trainings when schedule allows.
- Provide staff training as necessary.
- Collaborate with Disability Coordinator regarding accommodations for students with disabling health or physical conditions.
- Case manage students on long‑term medications.
- Oversee weight management program for students.
- Maintain malpractice insurance.
