Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Clinical Specialist Staff Fellow to design targeted physical therapy treatment programs, mentor students and staff, and serve as a regional resource. The role splits time between the Kaiser Permanente PT Fellowship program and the main PT department or satellite MOBs, including potential weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy (BS, MS, DPT or PhD).
• Completion of a minimum of 200 hours of approved physical therapy continuation education.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• APTA Clinical Specialist Certification or equivalent residency/certificate programs.

Responsibilities

• Designs physical therapy treatment programs in the specialty area with medical prescriptions and patient evaluation.
• Designs and presents in-service education to staff and students at the medical center and other Kaiser Permanente centers.
• Acts as a resource and mentor to staff and students in the clinical area of expertise.
• Attend required instructional classes and complete the educational program requirements.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, licenses, and Kaiser policies.
• Maintain equipment and keep the assigned area clean and functional.
• Assess patients, perform examinations, and interpret findings to guide treatment.
• Develop measurable treatment goals and modify plans based on progress.
• Collaborate with referring physicians regarding contraindicated treatments.
• Supervise support personnel as appropriate.
• Demonstrate advanced PT skills in musculoskeletal and neurological assessment and treatment.
• Document all clinical activities timely and accurately.
• Develop and implement special classes or clinics with rehab colleagues.

Education

PT degree (BS/MS/DPT/PhD)

APTA Clinical Specialist Certification (OCS, NCS)

One-year specialized educational program certificate
