Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System, part of Universal Health Services, Inc., in Amarillo, TX, seeks a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to join our patient‑focused team. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to provide therapies and wound care, following established treatment plans.

Under supervision, you will perform modalities, participate in discharge planning, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care per physician orders and plan of care; includes wound care and topical medications.
• Takes measurements and assessments of patient status within licensure.
• Maintains communication with the evaluating physical therapist to maximize benefits.
• Implements education plan and identifies additional educational needs with the therapist.
• Follows discharge plan and discusses concerns with the therapist.
• Communicates with patient, family, caregivers, and healthcare team to optimize care.
• Measures progress and collaborates with the therapist to adjust treatment goals.
