Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Maryland is seeking a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. You will administer prescribed treatments using exercise techniques and modalities to restore function and mobility.

You will instruct patients and families in home exercise programs, maintain progress notes, and participate in program development and education. You may perform reception and clerical duties and assist in maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Physical Therapy approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Maryland PTA license or Compact PTA license at hire.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds; good hearing, speech, and vision.

Responsibilities

• Administers treatment to restore function, mobility and strength, relieve pain and prevent disability.
• Provides patients and families with instruction in home exercise programs and pain relief techniques.
• Maintains medical records including progress notes.
• Collaborates with PT or referring physician regarding goals and program revisions.
• Participates in department programs such as peer reviews and in-service education.
• Maintains supplies, equipment and apparatus in a clean, safe condition.
• Performs non-treatment tasks such as reception, stocking, and inventory.
• Supports continuing education through in-service programs for providers and staff.
• Performs responsibilities of a PTA to ensure safe, progressive patient care.
• adheres to AP.T.A Code of Ethics.
