Job summary

Maimonides Health Center, located at 6401 Auburn Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23464, invites a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant PTA to join in a PRN/per diem role providing rehabilitation services to residents.

The PTA will administer therapy under supervision, document care with PT sign-off, assist in preparing treatment spaces and residents, and contribute to discharge planning with the care team. Flexible shifts and a supportive environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Must have a valid professional license and registration for VA.
• Experience in long-term care and/or geriatric care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers therapy under supervision of a Physical Therapist and completes all documentation related to resident care, co-signed by PT.
• Prepares, maintains and cleans treatment areas, including equipment and resident preparation.
• Orients resident to procedures and ensures safety during treatment.
• Performs routine office duties such as answering phones, receiving residents and filing records.
• Makes recommendations to Physical Therapist about improvements in methods and procedures.
• Demonstrates and instructs residents and nursing staff on exercises, positioning and transfer techniques.
• Prepares discharge plans in coordination with the team and arranges equipment and devices as needed.

Your Role as a Physical Therapist Assistant PTA:

At Maimonides Health Center, our Physical Therapist Assistant PTA provides essential care to our residents by:

• Administers therapy under supervision of a Physical Therapist and completes all documentation related to resident care. All documentation must be co-signed by Physical Therapist.




• Prepares, maintains and cleans treatment areas, including preparing equipment and resident for physical therapy.




• Orients resident to procedures involved and reassures resident before and during treatment. Responsible for resident’s safety while in physical therapy.




• Performs routine office duties such as answering the telephone, receiving residents and filing records, reports, case histories and statistical studies, etc.




• Makes recommendations to Physical Therapist about how methods and procedures can be improved.




• Demonstrates and instructs residents and nursing personnel on the use of medical appliances, exercises, positioning, transferring and any other appropriate methods.




• With input of Physical Therapist, prepares residents discharge plans in coordination with other team members, including the timely ordering of all equipment and or assistive devices required.

What You Need:

• Must have graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program




• Must have a valid professional license and registration for state of practice, VA.




• Experience with long‑term care and/or geriatric care is preferred
