Job summary

The Beach Post-Acute in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Per-Diem Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support our rehab team and help residents recover from surgery, injury, or illness. The PTA will assist Physical Therapists with treatments per each patient’s care plan and perform routine tasks.

The role requires an active CA PTA license, at least 1 year of SNF/LTC experience preferred, and excellent customer service and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Physical Therapists with treatments per care plan.
• Document progress of treatment and modify treatments as needed.
• Instruct and motivate patients during exercises and activities.
• Observe and report patient progress to the physical therapist.
• Confer with therapy staff to plan and coordinate treatment.
• Communicate treatment plans to caregivers and family members.
• Transport and assist patients to treatment areas and secure them for therapy.
• Administer manual therapy, modalities, and therapeutic exercises.
• Measure range of motion and vital signs for treatment evaluation.
• Monitor equipment use and document treatment sessions.
• Fit patients for braces, prostheses, and supportive devices.

Job description

The Beach Post-Acute is a 24-hour 90-bed skilled nursing facility located in Santa Ana, CA. Our team of dedicated healthcare professionals work to help patients recover from surgery, injury, or from serious illnesses.

Our Rehab team is known to provide the highest quality of care to our residents as our team is full of support and teamwork. We are currently on the search for a Per-Diem PTA to join the team in helping us continue to strive for excellence.

About the Position:

The PTA will assist the Physical Therapists with treatments and procedures based on each patient's care plan. Other tasks may include carrying out routine functions, documenting the progress of treatment, and modifying specific treatments.

Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients as they practice exercises or functional activities. Observes patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on their responses and progress and provides results to the physical therapist in person or through progress notes.

Confers with physical therapy staff and others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment. Communicates with and instructs caregivers and family members on patient therapeutic activities and treatment plans.

Transports patients to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements. Secures patients into or onto therapy equipment.

Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, aquatic physical therapy, and heat, light, sound, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound.

Measures patients' range-of-joint motion, body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of treatments or for patient evaluations.

Monitors operation of equipment and records use of equipment and administration of treatment.

Fits patients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches.

Qualifications:

PTA License active in CA

Minimum of 1 year of Skilled Nursing Facility experience or Long-Term Care preferred
