Role Summary

A Physical Therapy Assistant assists Physical Therapists in helping patients recover and rehabilitate from serious illness, injury, or medical events, helping them regain functional ability, well‑being, and independence.

Qualifications

• Current Florida License as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
• Current CP
• At least one year of experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.
• Contribute to a physical therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues.
• Administer treatment programs for patients.
• Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining updated therapy histories.
• Evaluate abnormal conditions by reviewing the physical therapist’s interpretations of patient evaluations and test results.
• Perform therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non‑manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily‑living activities.
• Help patients use supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Instruct and counsel patients by describing therapeutic regimens, providing normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
