Woodland Grove Health and Rehab Center in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join the rehabilitation team and support patients in regaining function after illness or injury.

The PTA will perform treatments under a licensed therapist, help implement therapy plans, and assist patients with mobility and daily activities within a skilled nursing setting. This full-time role offers a collaborative environment, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Florida PTA license current or active.
• CPR certification or equivalent.
• 1+ year experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.
• Identify patient care issues to contribute to the physical therapist's effectiveness.
• Administer treatment programs for patients.
• Assess patient health by interviewing and examining patients and reviewing therapy histories.
• Evaluate conditions by reviewing therapist interpretations of evaluations and test results.
• Perform therapeutic procedures including manual exercises and activities of daily living.
• Assist patients with moving and using supportive devices.

Summary of the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA):

A PTA is responsible for assisting Physical Therapist in helping patients recover and rehabilitate from the effects of a serious illness, injury or medical event, regaining their own best possible level of functional ability, well-being and independence.

Job Requirements of Registered Physical Therapists (PTA):

• Current Florida License as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
• Current CP
• At least one (1) experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA):

• Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.
• Contributes to a physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care issues.
• Administers treatment programs for patients.
• Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining updating, and studying therapy histories.
• Evaluates abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist's interpretations of patient evaluations and test results..
• Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities.
• Helps patients in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
