Job Description

A Physical Therapy Assistant works under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. This individual assists the Physical Therapist in providing physical therapy services within their scope of training, as delegated by the Physical Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Apply physical therapy modalities and provide therapeutic exercises and functional training, including activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Conduct gait and balance training using specific equipment.
• Document patient progress and communicate with the Physical Therapist regarding program modifications.
• Assist with evaluative techniques and participate in care planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Physical Therapist.

Requirements

• AAS in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited program and Certificate of Registration in New York State.
• CPR certification.
• Physical strength to lift between 50-100 lbs.
• Ability to collaborate with various healthcare disciplines.
• Thorough knowledge of physical therapy practices, including patient diagnosis, precautions, contraindications, and current treatment protocols.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
