We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic outpatient orthopaedic team. The PTA will work under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists to provide high-quality care to patients of all ages. This role requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about helping individuals regain mobility, improve function, and achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate our core values of being patient centered, team focused, service driven, accountable, and innovative every day.
  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed by the Physical Therapist to address patient-specific needs.
  • Provide hands-on therapy, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities, as appropriate.
  • Educate patients and their families about home exercise programs, injury prevention, and self-management strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with Physical Therapists, Physician teams, patients, and interdisciplinary team members including Certified Athletic Trainers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide feedback on patient progress and any changes observed during treatment sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Track treatment progress and adjust interventions as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Assist with clinic operations, including equipment maintenance, treatment area organization, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and clinic initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Evolve in your role when performing supplemental responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in New York State.
  • Prior experience in an outpatient orthopaedic setting is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of conditions, including sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered care with empathy and professionalism.
  • EMR experience preferred, MEDENT is highly desirable.
  • Computer skills required with minimum proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Physical Demands

  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to enter data, provide patient care, and operate equipment.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Extensive standing and walking required.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Position requires full range of body motion including ability to position and move patients.
