Job summary

Insight Institute of Neuroscience & Neurosurgery (IINN) in Flint, MI is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to support comprehensive therapy services. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with therapists to deliver patient-centered care and therapy across neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation.

The role emphasizes safe patient handling, accurate documentation, and effective communication with care teams and families, ensuring high-quality outcomes for our patients.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Current CPR certification
  • Michigan PTA license required
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication for patient care and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients during exercises or functional activities.
  • Collaborate with physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing staff to plan and coordinate treatment.
  • Transport and transfer patients as required and position them safely.
  • Administer manual therapy modalities and aquatic therapy as applicable.
  • Educate caregivers and family on treatment plans to maximize patient care.
  • Record patient vitals and ROM to assess treatment effects.
  • Monitor equipment use and therapy sessions for safety and efficiency.

Duties
  • Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients as they practice exercises or functional activities
  • Confers with physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing staff, etc., to discuss patient information in regard to planning, modifying, and/or coordinating treatment
  • Transports patients to and from treatment areas; lifts and transfers patients according to positioning requirements
  • Safely secures patients into or onto therapy equipment
  • Administers active or passive manual therapeutic interventions that include: heat, ultrasound, electrical modality treatments, and mechanical traction
  • Communicates with and/or instructs caregivers/family members on patient therapeutic activities or treatment plans to maximize patient care
  • Measures patients' range-of-motion, body parts, or vital signs to determine effects of treatment
  • Monitors and records the operation and use of equipment, and administration of treatment
  • Ability to get into the pool with patients that require aquatic therapy
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent required, Associate’s or Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Current State of Michigan PTA license required
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proven excellence in patient safety and care
  • Previous experience is preferred within a clinic environment
  • Previous experience working through procedures and assisting clients in a highly professional and approachable capacity
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment while maintaining positive energy
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
  • Able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and drive
  • Exudes respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner
