Job summary

CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PRN/onsite) to work under a PT and physician direction. You will educate patients and families, supervise support staff, and provide in-home services as ordered, documenting progress and communicating with the PT and physician.

The role requires an Associate Degree as a PTA and Illinois licensure within 6 months of hire, plus a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant required.
• Illinois Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant required within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Illinois Vehicle Operator’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients under the supervision of a PT and as ordered by a physician.
• Educate patients, families and caregivers on treatment and expected outcomes.
• Supervise support staff and provide in-home services as ordered.
• Document treatment progress and report to PT and physician as needed.
• Contribute to professional outreach and community education.
• Assist in clinical instruction of PTA students and interns.

Shift Details

Shift M-F varying 8-hour shifts; start time between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Scheduled Weekly Hours 0.4

Position Purpose

Treatment to include, but not limited to: range of motion and mobility exercise, EMS, ultrasound, whirlpool, therapeutic heat and cold, cervical and pelvic traction, soft tissue massage, electrical nerve stimulation, progressive resistive exercise and muscle re-education, neurological facilitation and inhibition techniques, orthotic and prosthetic iontophoresis and in-home therapy.

Essential Functions

Under direction and supervision of a PT, treats patients as ordered and reviewed by physician. Educates patients, families and caregivers in treatment and expected outcomes. Provides timely, personal supervision of support staff. Provides In-Home services to patients as ordered. Documents treatment and reports patient progress and response to PT and physician as needed. Promotes profession and department through participation in in-services, health fairs, trade shows, community presentations and community service organizations. Participates in the performance improvement process by identifying opportunities for improvement and taking action to improve patient care services. Assists clinical instruction of PTA students through university affiliations. Supervises job shadow and high school student interns. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Specialized Knowledge & Requirements

Associate Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant required. Illinois Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant required within 6 months of hire. Valid Illinois Vehicle Operator’s License required.

Compensation

Compensation Range $25.27 - $37.91
