Job Title:Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) – Outpatient Neurologic Clinic
Job Summary:We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team at an outpatient neurologic clinic. The PTA will be tasked in delivering high-quality care to patients with neurological conditions, helping them regain mobility, strength, and independence. This role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized, patient-centered treatment plans in combination with the Physical Therapist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physical therapists in the delivery of therapy services to patients with neurological disorders (e.g., stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, etc.).
- Implement individualized treatment plans as directed by the physical therapist, ensuring all interventions are carried out safely and effectively.
- Perform therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and functional training under the supervision of the physical therapist.
- Educate patients on exercises, assist with activities of daily living, and reinforce therapist-prescribed strategies to improve strength, balance, and mobility.
- Monitor patient progress and document all treatments, including patient responses to interventions and any changes in their condition.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, fostering a positive and motivating environment.
- Maintain equipment and therapy areas to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and the clinical team to update treatment plans and share progress.
- Assist with patient education regarding home exercise programs, safety recommendations, and lifestyle modifications.
- Ensure compliance with all clinic policies, procedures, and regulations, including documentation standards and patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
- Previous experience working in a neurologic rehabilitation setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques, neuromuscular disorders, and anatomy.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility and exercises.
- CPR and First Aid certification (Required).
- PWR! Moves certification(preferred).
