Job summary

University Orthopedics is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our North Easton, MA team in a full-time role. The PTA will support therapists with exercise, gait and balance training, and patient progress documentation in outpatient orthopedics settings.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an APTA-accredited program, holds MA and RI PTA licenses, demonstrates strong communication and confidentiality, and is willing to travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an APTA-accredited PTA program.
• Valid MA and RI PTA license.
• Experience in outpatient orthopedics preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Attention to detail and flexibility to travel.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients before, during and after therapy and report progress.
• Assist patients with exercises as part of care plans.
• Treat patients using massage, stretching and other techniques.
• Use devices and equipment such as walkers to aid therapy.
• Educate patients and families on post-treatment care.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.

Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Reports To: Physical Therapy Site Coordinator

This full time position is located in our North Easton, MA location.

General Summary Of Duties

Under the direction and supervision of Physical Therapists, the PTA treat patients through exercise, massage, gait and balance training and other therapeutic interventions. The PTA records patients' progress and report the results of each treatment to the Physical Therapist.

Essential Job Functions

• Observe patients before, during and after therapy, noting the patient's status and reporting it to the Physical Therapist
• Help patients do specific exercises as part of the plan of care
• Treat patients, using a variety of techniques, such as massage and stretching
• Use devices and equipment, such as walkers, to help patients
• Educate patients and family members about what to do after treatment
• Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs

Requirements

• A graduate of an APTA accredited school of physical therapy
• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant State of MA and RI license
• Previous experience in outpatient orthopedics/musculoskeletal rehab preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Attention to detail
• Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary .
