Job summary

COTIS in North Easton, MA is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to join our outpatient orthopedics team. The PTA works under Physical Therapists to implement treatments, track progress, and support patients’ function and mobility.

Responsibilities include guiding patients through exercises and gait/balance training, using devices as needed, and educating patients and families about post-treatment care. Travel to additional sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an APTA-accredited PTA program.
• MA or RI PTA license.
• Preferred experience in outpatient orthopedics/musculoskeletal rehab.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients before, during and after therapy, noting status for the Physical Therapist.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as part of the plan of care.
• Provide treatment using techniques such as massage and stretching.
• Utilize devices and equipment (e.g., walkers) to aid patient mobility.
• Educate patients and families about post-treatment care and home programs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs.

Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Reports To: Physical Therapy Site Coordinator

This full time position is located in our North Easton, MA location.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direction and supervision of Physical Therapists, the PTA treat patients through exercise, massage, gait and balance training and other therapeutic interventions. The PTA records patients' progress and report the results of each treatment to the Physical Therapist.

Essential Job Functions:

• Observe patients before, during and after therapy, noting the patient's status and reporting it to the Physical Therapist
• Help patients do specific exercises as part of the plan of care
• Treat patients, using a variety of techniques, such as massage and stretching
• Use devices and equipment, such as walkers, to help patients
• Educate patients and family members about what to do after treatment
• Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs

Requirements:

• A graduate of an APTA accredited school of physical therapy
• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant State of MA and RI license
• Previous experience in outpatient orthopedics/musculoskeletal rehab preferred
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary .
