Administers physical therapy treatments to patients, working under the direction of and as an assistant to a Physical Therapist, by performing the following duties. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Qualifications
- Currently licensed as a PTA under the laws of the state of Oklahoma.
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Previous home health nursing experience is preferred.
- Recent experience in direct patient care in an institution or home health setting is preferred.
- Must have valid CPR certification, driver’s license, reliable vehicle, maintain valid auto liability insurance, and be able to drive throughout the service area under various weather conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Administers manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, hot and cold packs.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Instructs, motivates, and assists patients in functional activities like pre-ambulation, transfer, and daily living activities.
- Observes and evaluates patient responses to treatments, reporting to the Physical Therapist.
- Adheres to a plan of care for all assigned patients.
- Trains patients in the use of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to plan and modify treatment programs.
- Provides orientation for new Physical Therapist Assistants.
- Performs clerical duties such as inventory, supply ordering, and documentation.
- Measures joint motion, body part dimensions, and vital signs for treatment effects and patient evaluations.
- Complies with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
- Requires frequent travel, including overnight stays.
- Reads and interprets safety rules, manuals, and instructions; writes reports; speaks effectively before groups.
- Follows emergency preparedness plans.
- Calculates figures and applies basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Uses word processing, spreadsheet, internet, email, and Point of Care systems.
- Solves practical problems with limited standardization and interprets various instructions.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and provides quality patient care.
- Prepares personal documents for personnel files promptly.
- Assists in orientation and training of new staff as needed.
Organizational Relationship
- Reports to the Director of Therapy, Clinical Liaison, and Administrator or other managers.

- Light to moderate activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
