Orthopedic Specialists of Northwest Indiana in Munster, IN is seeking a full-time Physical Therapy Assistant to provide hands-on therapy and support to patients under the supervision of licensed therapists.

You will assist in therapy sessions, document progress, and help with braces and assistive devices, while maintaining quality patient care and service standards in a busy outpatient clinic.

Qualifications

  • An associate degree of Applied Science from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Experience preferred (1-2 years in outpatient therapy).
  • Licensed in the state of Indiana.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and assist physical therapists in procedures and providing treatment to outpatients.
  • Compile data (ROM, girth, strength measurements) and report findings to the physical therapist to aid progress summaries and plan of care.
  • Fit patients for, adjust, and train them in orthopedic braces and supportive devices (crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs).
  • Assist in orientation and instruction to new physical therapy assistants and technicians.
  • Perform light clerical duties (phones, messages, scheduling).
  • Must be flexible with hours to meet working patients’ needs.
  • Complete documentation in a timely and proficient manner as required by policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service consistent with company policy.
  • Maintain a clean, functional work environment and assist in equipment maintenance.

Job Summary

As a Physical Therapy Assistant, your primary role is to provide high quality, hands-on therapy, and positive outcome-based patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed in the state of Indiana

  • Through observation and delivering therapy, compile data (i.e. taking ROM, girth and strength measurements) and report findings to the physical therapist, to assist in the summary of progress made by patients, along with progressing or modifying their plan of care.
  • Fit patients for, adjust, and train them in the use and care of orthopedic braces and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs.
  • Assist in orientation and instruction to new physical therapy assistants and physical therapy technicians.
  • Perform light clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, and scheduling patients as needed.
  • Must be flexible with hours in order to meet the needs of our working patients.
  • Complete documentation in timely and proficient manner as required by insurance policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service consistent with the company policy.
  • Maintain a clean, functional work environment, including but not limited to: sanitizing tables/equipment, putting away equipment after use, and maintaining office equipment as needed to help with the flow of the clinic.
  • Assist in orientation and instruction to new physical therapy assistants and physical therapy technicians.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to fulfill any office activities normally expected in an office setting, to include, but not limited to: remaining seated for periods of time to perform computer based work, participating in filing activity, lifting and carrying office supplies (paper reams, mail, etc.)
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds
