Davita Inc. is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant dedicated to providing quality patient care. This role requires an Associate's Degree, effective communication skills, and a current California license. The assistant will work under the guidance of a Physical Therapist, ensuring optimal patient recovery in a supportive environment, while adhering to departmental policies.
Job Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant performs services planned, delegated, and supervised by the Physical Therapist. Assists patients in preventing disability and promotes maximal patient and caregiver participation in recovery following disease, injury, surgery, or loss of a body part. Provides care according to department policies and procedures, applying treatment techniques in accordance with discipline-specific practice acts. Responsible for delivering services to patients under physician orders. Fosters a constructive and supportive departmental environment, promotes professional relationships, and practices resource conservation. Performs additional duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistance from an accredited program and passing the Physical Therapy Exam approved by the Physical Therapy Board of California. Preferably, at least one year of recent experience in an acute care or rehabilitation setting.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of documentation requirements by regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, Medicare/Medi-Cal, and primary insurance regulations. Familiar with available resources. Fluent in written and verbal English, with clear communication skills for interaction with patients, caregivers, and team members. Ability to operate required equipment, assessment tools, and basic computer skills, with familiarity with Windows OS preferred. Demonstrates empathy, warmth, responsibility, tact, flexibility, and creativity. Capable of multitasking, attention to detail, problem-solving, and reasoning. Follows instructions with minimal supervision and can incorporate feedback effectively. Able to interpret numbers, evaluate data, and determine appropriate interventions. Sufficient hearing and vision to perform duties effectively.
Licensures and Certifications: Current license from the Physical Therapy Board of California. BLS certification and a valid driver's license may be required depending on the department.
