Job Description
Job Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant performs services planned, delegated, and supervised by the Physical Therapist. Assists patients to prevent disability and promotes maximal participation and responsibility for recovery following disease, injury, surgery, or loss of a body part. Provides care according to department policies and treatment techniques in line with practice acts. Responsible for services under physician's orders, fosters a supportive approach, promotes professional relationships, and practices resource conservation. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited program and passed the Physical Therapy Exam approved by the Physical Therapy Board of California. Preferably, at least one year of recent experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of documentation requirements by regulatory agencies, resource awareness, fluent in English, clear communication skills, ability to operate necessary equipment, good interpersonal skills, flexibility, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and basic computer skills. Able to assess, evaluate, and interpret data; maintain hearing and vision acuity; and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
Licensures and Certifications: Current license from the Physical Therapy Board of California. BLS certification and valid driver’s license may be required depending on the department.
