Job summary

Christian Living Communities | Cappella Living Solutions is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to support licensed therapists in our senior living communities. You will help deliver treatments, build relationships with residents, and contribute to a collaborative care team.

The role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care; expect a pay range of $27.90 to $39.20 hourly and responsibilities including documentation, assisting with exercises, and mobility support for residents.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
  • 2–3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant state license; CPR certification.
  • Must have stamina to lift and transfer residents; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physical therapists in providing treatments as part of care team.
  • Identify resident care issues and communicate them clearly.
  • Administer treatment programs with attention to comfort and needs.
  • Document resident care per procedures.
  • Perform therapeutic exercises and guide residents in activities.
  • Build rapport with residents to motivate recovery.
  • Assist residents with devices like crutches, canes, prostheses.
  • Counsel residents on regimens and wellness.
  • Collaborate with team in inclusive workplace culture.

Job Description

Pay range is $27.90 to $39.20 / hour BOE

Position Summary

Assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. This role is as much about building genuine relationships with residents and colleagues as it is about clinical skill — we believe every person, team member and resident alike, brings unique strengths and perspectives that make our community stronger.

  • Provides services under the direction of a licensed physical therapist, working as a trusted partner within the care team.
  • Contributes to the physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying resident care issues and communicating them clearly.
  • Administers treatment programs for residents with attentiveness to their comfort and individual needs.
  • Documents resident care services according to approved medical and facility documentation procedures.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting residents in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities.
  • Builds rapport and trust with residents, taking time to understand what motivates and encourages each individual through their recovery.
  • Helps residents in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Instructs and counsels residents by describing therapeutic regimens, sharing normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Collaborates closely with fellow team members, contributing to a supportive, inclusive workplace culture where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are welcomed and celebrated.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Physical Therapy Assistant state license; CPR certification.
  • Physical stamina to lift, transfer, and assist residents through physical activities.
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, including assisting residents when needed.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with residents in person and over the phone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of residents and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Position requires medium-heavy physical work. Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up more than 45 pounds of force repeatedly to move objects.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members and visitors frequently.
