Job summary

Highbar Physical Therapy in Rhode Island seeks an Exercise Specialist/Physical Therapy Aide to support therapists and improve patient care. This non-licensed caregiver works under the direction of a Physical Therapist and/or Assistant to aid in treatment, with duties in clinical rooms, exercise instruction, aquatic therapy, modalities, and education.

Responsibilities include keeping treatment rooms clean, assisting with patient interventions per plan of care, helping with scheduling and intake,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field strongly preferred.
• Standing or walking for extended periods.
• Assisting with patient exercise instruction and demonstration.
• Monitoring patient movement to ensure safety, including fall prevention.
• Light lifting or movement of equipment and supplies up to 50lbs.
• Occasional bending, reaching, or crouching as needed to support patient care.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the condition and cleanliness of treatment rooms and gym area meets standards.
• Assist clinical staff with patient intervention following plan of care as directed by the PT or PTA; includes exercise instruction, manual therapy, modalities, and education.
• Assist administrative staff with scheduling/rescheduling, answering phones, intake, and communication with patients per therapist direction.
• Maintain a clean environment for patient safety; manage supplies, towels, equipment, and laundry per protocol.
