Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible to the NMBHI Outpatient Restorative Services Department for therapy, and the supervision, of therapeutic services for the clients referred by the physicians. This position
also provides services to the clients at NMBHI Long-Term Care Department.
How does it get done?
Supervise PT Assistants, rehabilitative support staff to include training, treatment and procedures, implementation of the care plans and work reviews. Administers evaluations, specialized treatments and discharges. Assigns work to therapists and aides. Supervises services rendered to ensure program/client goals are met according to physician orders. Assures the therapy department is providing quality services and is in compliance with all established standards of care. Instructs students and other personnel in the required duties to provide optimal performance during student clinical affiliations. Prepares requests for department needs daily and documents accurately as required. Monitors equipment for optimal performance and safety. Prepares client orders for physician approval and client progress notes every 30 days. Logs/submits all activity on a daily charge slip. Communicates daily with the OPRS Secretary and the Long-Term Care department regarding the client's schedule. Performs other related duties to support the needs of the client/department. Completes annual employee MEP evaluation for the Physical Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides and Adaptive Equipment staff identifying performance strengths/deficiencies with development plan to address issues. Perform related duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is one who is an independent worker, able to manage case load and a department of 5-10 employees. One who will attend regular management meetings and will report all department happenings and patient status updates regularly to nursing and Long-Term Care Administrator.
Minimum Qualification
Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of New Mexico and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
