Why does the job exist?
Incumbent will be responsible for providing and performing occupational therapy services as ordered by a physician, assessments, intervention, treatment implementation, documentation, etc. to all ages of the population to include pediatrics, adolescents and geriatrics in order to increase and/ or maintain function and independence for daily living skills.
How does it get done?
Incumbent will administer evaluations/ assessments, specialized treatments, intervention plans and discharge. Incumbent will evaluate effect of treatment at various intensities and duration and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Provides in services training to staff to assure appropriate and consistent care. Incumbent will direct and coordinate application of splints and other adaptive devices.

Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience with occupational therapy practice, principal and procedure;
Experience with clinical applications of appropriate treatment and modalities;
Experience working with clients, families and clients with special needs;
Experience with being a supervisor, leadership and interpersonal skills;
Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in New Mexico.
Minimum Qualification
Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of New Mexico and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
