About Duke Raleigh Hospital, A Campus of Duke University Hospital

With 204 beds, it is the third largest of Duke Health's four hospitals and offers a comprehensive array of services, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.

Description: Duke Raleigh Hospital is currently seeking applicants for an open physical therapy position, to be filled by candidates dual credentialed in physical therapy and athletic training or those who are board certified in sports. New hires are responsible for a 40-hour work week consisting of 25-30 hours of physical therapy services in an outpatient ambulatory setting and 10-15 hours of high school/community outreach services, including sport event coverage, in communities surrounding Raleigh, NC. Weekend PRN coverage for supplemental pay is strongly encouraged. Applicants need to be eligible for a North Carolina physical therapy license and be a certified/licensed athletic trainer or board certified in sports.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing physical therapy services to patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes.
  • Participating in prevention and wellness services, including screenings and health promotion.
  • Collaborating with patients and families to create and update care plans, setting measurable goals, and establishing discharge plans.
  • Following established intervention protocols and adjusting plans as needed.
  • Discharging patients when goals are achieved or services are no longer necessary, with follow-up as required.
  • Maintaining competency in evaluations specific to your practice area.
  • Meeting patient care productivity standards.
  • Utilizing support personnel effectively.
  • Participating in patient coverage across departments as needed.
  • Assessing learning needs and providing education to patients and caregivers.
  • Completing documentation and reports accurately and timely.
  • Providing clinical education for students and participating in outreach activities.
  • Contributing to research activities to improve clinical outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to push-pull, lift-carry, and transfer patients.

Preferred Qualifications: ABPTS Board Certified in Sports (SCS) and/or Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or certification in physical therapy; Master's or Clinical Doctorate preferred.
  • Current Physical Therapist license in North Carolina.
  • No additional experience required beyond education, but more experience may be preferred.
