Job summary

Ozark Health, Inc. is seeking a Weekend Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide skilled therapy services in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation settings.

Flexible weekend scheduling (Saturday/Sunday) is offered, with hours negotiable based on department needs and candidate availability. The role emphasizes collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to support safe discharge planning, functional mobility, and continuation of care beyond regular weekday

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
• Current, unencumbered Arkansas PT/PTA license.
• CPR/BLS certification required; acute care or inpatient rehab experience preferred; new grads considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy to acute care and inpatient rehab patients.
• Complete evaluations and daily treatment documentation in the EMR.
• Communicate patient status and progress to the rehab team.
• Assist in discharge planning and home safety recommendations as needed.
• Ensure safe use of mobility aids and equipment.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate billing documentation and charge capture.
• Coordinate with weekday staff to ensure continuity of care.

Job Description:

The Weekend PT/PTA provides physical therapy services to acute care and inpatient rehabilitation patients under a physician's approved plan of care, ensuring continuity of therapy services and safe, timely patient progression through the weekend. This position works closely with the interdisciplinary care team to support functional mobility, safe discharge planning and consistent delivery of skilled therapy services outside standard weekday coverage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy treatment to acute care and inpatient rehab patients
• Complete evaluations (PT) and daily treatment documentation in the EMR on date of service.
• Communicate patient status, functional progress, and safety concerns to nursing, case management, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in discharge planning discussions and equipment/home safety recommendations as needed.
• Ensure appropriate use of assistive devices, mobility aids, and safety precautions during treatment sessions.
• Follow infection control, fall prevention, and facility safety protocols at all times.
• Maintain accurate charge capture and billing documentation.
• Communicate effectively with weekday therapy staff to ensure continuity of care across the full week.
• Respond to changes in patient status and elevate concerns to appropriate clinical staff promptly.
• Participate in departmental performance improvement activities as applicable to weekend operations.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.

Experience:

• Current, unencumbered PT or PTA license in the state of Arkansas.
• Acute care or inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred; new graduates considered.
• Current CPR/BLS certification required.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently with appropriate supervision structure (PTA).
• Effective communication with patients, families, rehab team, and interdisciplinary staff.
• Ability to manage a variable weekend caseload across acute and inpatient rehab settings.
• Proficient with EMR documentation systems.
