Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers is seeking a Physical Therapist (PT) to organize and conduct physical therapy programs within our facility. The role focuses on promoting independence, mobility and overall rehabilitation through evidence-based therapies.

The position offers flexible full-time, part-time and per diem options with hourly pay ranging from $50 to $55. A supportive team environment and opportunities for professional growth are provided.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a physical therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the AMA and APTA and certified by the APTA.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the State.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates residents, sets treatment goals, and implements the physical therapy plan with documentation.
• Designs and trains in adaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics.
• Selects physical agent modalities suited to individual needs and diagnosis.
• Consults with rehabilitation team to choose appropriate regimens.
• Instructs residents in mobility skills and monitors progress.
• Adapts program to individual resident needs.
• Promotes a safe environment and enforces safety standards.
• Attends care conferences and related meetings.
• Supervises supportive personnel per state and professional standards.
• Conducts training for medical, nursing and other personnel in PT techniques.
• Orders supplies and maintains equipment.
• Cleans, maintains, and reports need for repair of equipment.
• Ensures residents and families receive high quality compassionate service.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist organizes and conducts physical therapy programs for the facility to facilitate rehabilitation. He/she directs client participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. In addition, the Physical Therapist facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for promoting independence and productivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology. He/she directs activities to promote and maintain health.

RESPONSIBLITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• 1 Evaluates residents, develops appropriate treatment goals, and methods, implements the physical therapy treatment plan, and completes all related documentation and record keeping regarding these services; services include application of therapeutic techniques in areas such as gait, ambulation, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, posture control, sensory awareness, sitting and standing skills, balance and orientation;
• 2 Designs and fits adaptive devices, and trains residents in the use of adaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics;
• 3 Selects physical agent modalities suited to the individual’s needs, physical capacity, mobility activities and diagnosis;
• 4 Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
• 5 Instructs resident in the skills and techniques required for participation in mobility activities, and evaluates client progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential;
• 6 Adapts program according to the needs of individual resident;
• 7 Promotes a safe environment and enforces the elimination of fire and safety hazards;
• 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing conferences and other related meetings;
• 9 Supervises supportive personnel in accordance with state and professional standards;
• 10 Conducts training programs and participates in training medical, nursing and other personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives;
• 11 Orders supplies and equipment as necessary;
• 12 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment as necessary;
• 13 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of a physical therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association and certified by the American Physical Therapy Association under its requirements.
