Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy according to the directions of a qualified physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care and state Physical Therapy Practice Act.
• Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Directs and aids patients in therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
• Utilizes physical agents, including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
• Observes and reports patient reactions and condition changes to the physical therapist and organization personnel.
• Instructs patients in the care and use of assistive devices.
• Maintains necessary records and clinical notes within prescribed timeframes.
• Participates in team meetings and inservice education programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an approved Associate’s degree.
• Current certification or license as required by state law.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and organization skills.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license with a well-maintained and insured vehicle.
