Job summary

Manhattanview Rehab Center is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist (PT) to organize and conduct physical therapy programs for residents, promoting independence and rehabilitation outcomes. The role focuses on guiding patients through therapeutic activities and coordinating with the rehab team to provide optimal care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program and certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure in New Jersey.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents, develop appropriate treatment goals and methods, and document services.
• Design and fit adaptive devices, and train residents in their use (orthotics/prosthetics).
• Select physical agent modalities suited to the individual’s needs and diagnosis.
• Consult with the rehab team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
• Instruct residents in mobility skills and evaluate progress and attitudes.
• Adapt programs to meet individual resident needs.
• Promote safety and enforce fire/safety standards.
• Attend care conferences and related meetings.
• Supervise supportive personnel per state and professional standards.
• Provide training to medical, nursing and other staff in PT techniques and objectives.
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Maintain and repair equipment as needed.
• Ensure high quality, compassionate service for residents and families.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist organizes and conducts physical therapy programs for the facility to facilitate rehabilitation. He/she directs client participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. In addition, the Physical Therapist facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for promoting independence and productivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology. He/she directs activities to promote and maintain health.

RESPONSIBLITIES/ACcOUNTABILITIES:

1. 1 Evaluates residents, develops appropriate treatment goals, and methods, implements the physical therapy treatment plan, and completes all related documentation and record keeping regarding these services; services include application of therapeutic techniques in areas such as gait, ambulation, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, posture control, sensory awareness, sitting and standing skills, balance and orientation;
2. 2 Designs and fits adaptive devices, and trains residents in the use of adaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics;
3. 3 Selects physical agent modalities suited to the individual’s needs, physical capacity, mobility activities and diagnosis;
4. 4 Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
5. 5 Instructs resident in the skills and techniques required for participation in mobility activities, and evaluates client progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential;
6. 6 Adapts program according to the needs of individual resident;
7. 7 Promotes a safe environment and enforces the elimination of fire and safety hazards;
8. 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing conferences and other related meetings;
9. 9 Supervises supportive personnel in accordance with state and professional standards;
10. 10 Conducts training programs and participates in training medical, nursing and other personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives;
11. 11 Orders supplies and equipment as necessary;
12. 12 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment as necessary;
13. 13 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of a physical therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association and certified by the American Physical Therapy Association under its requirements.

JOB SKILLS:
