The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI) is seeking a part-time Physical Therapist to support outpatient and brain injury rehabilitation services. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, planning individualized treatment, and ensuring compliant documentation, with supervision of staff as needed.

LSVT/BIG and related skills are a plus, with CPR and IN licensure required or obtainable shortly after start date.

Qualifications

  • Experience with brain injury and stroke rehabilitation.
  • Must have Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program.
  • IN state Physical Therapist license required.
  • CPR certification required or obtainable within 4 weeks of start date.
  • 1 year experience with adult physical rehabilitation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers PT evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs.
  • Develops a patient-centered treatment plan based on evaluation, patient goals, and age-related needs.
  • Ensures documentation supports medical necessity and is completed within policy timelines.
  • Provides clinical supervision to assistants, techs, and students as per regulations.

Summary

The Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible for the provision of Physical Therapy services for a primarily Brain Injury, outpatient population, age 15 and older. Services include, but are not limited to, evaluation, evidence-based intervention, equipment recommendations and modality application, under the referral of a physician or qualified non-physician practitioner. Brain Injury clients who are entering services at NBIC will require an expert clinician with unique skills to progress these clients back to community and vocational activities.

Essential Functions
  • Administers PT evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs, integrating age-specific needs and issues for the physical medicine rehabilitation population.
  • Develops a patient-centered treatment plan based on the evaluation, patient goals, and age-related issues/needs to optimize treatment and function. Responsible for assuring the treatment plan supports medical necessity and incorporates evidence-based treatments and outcome measures. Responsible for ensuring the treatment plan is revised/updated appropriately per policy, communicated to appropriate team members including attendance at team conferences, and reviewed and signed off by referring physician (as appropriate).
  • Accurately completes documentation in compliance with department and regulatory timelines to ensure a complete medical record that supports skilled services and appropriate medical necessity. Charges appropriately for services provided and appropriately document outcome measures.
  • Provides clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties, to assistants, techs, and students according to state/federal regulations and hospital guidelines. Responsible for assuring that patient care interventions provided by assistants and students are appropriate for the patient's plan of care.
Education And Experience
  • Experience with TBI/BI, CVA, vestibular disorders, Dry Needling, CBIS preferred, LSVT BIG and LOUD preferred.
  • Must possess a Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program.
  • Physical Therapist IN state license required.
  • Must have current CPR certification in accordance with AHA standards or be able to obtain it within 4 weeks of the start date.
  • 1-year experience with adult physical rehabilitation preferred
