We are looking for a Physical Therapist to join our Outpatient team at Mount Auburn Hospital! This role is 24 hours per week and does not include weekends or holidays.

Patients referred for Physical Therapy services are evaluated and treated in an effective, efficient, and caring manner. Information about patient treatment is communicated in oral and/or written form in a concise, informative, and timely way and accordance with all regulatory requirements. Support staff or students participating in the care of the patient are supervised to assure the appropriateness and effectiveness of care.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Evaluates referred patients for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms accurately using appropriate tests, measurements, and history.
  • Develops comprehensive treatment plans in conjunction with the patient and/or family and physician which are based on the evaluation results and include the frequency and duration of treatment, long- and short-term goals, and expected functional outcomes.
  • Administers therapeutic techniques appropriate to the patient population and accurately and continuously monitors the patient's response to treatment, modifying the program as needed.
  • Confers with the patient and/or family, referring physician, staff, vendors, or other facilities to facilitate or coordinate care, obtain patient equipment, or assist with discharge planning
  • Adapts communication techniques to the patient population (hearing/vision/cognitive abilities).
  • Documents patient care accurately and in a timely way in the medical record and as needed to facilitate continued care or billing.
  • Assists in orientation, training, and supervision of physical therapist assistants, aides, students, and volunteers assigned to participate in patient care or departmental projects.
  • Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and skills through participation in continuing education programs, professional organizations, and/or review of professional literature.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, projects, and ongoing performance improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Masters or Doctorate in physical therapy.
  • Current licensure to practice physical therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and other healthcare providers.
  • Strong organization and time management skills to independently manage patient caseload.
  • Ability to attend to detail more than 70% of the work time.

Physical Requirements & Environment:

  • Normal hospital and clinic environment.
  • Works in all Physical Therapy areas of the hospital on occasional weekends and holidays on a rotating basis
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 80% of work time, push and pull heavy weights (including patients) and lift 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients and guard patients during ambulation.
  • Ability to grasp and perform fine hand manipulation and repetitive hand movements for more than 50% of the time.
  • Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids and infectious diseases.
  • Complies with precautions, as defined by Infection Control staff, in patients/materials requiring isolation.
