Job Overview

Under general supervision, delivers physical therapy (PT) services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans in accordance with the Maryland Physical Therapy Practice Act. Assists with the overall operation of the Department.

Multiple locations now hiring: Owings Mills, the main GBMC Hospital, and the new Texas Station site in Timonium, MD.

Education

• 2 years related experience preferred.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Evaluate the patient's functional status including review of medical history, diagnosis, and physician's prescription.
• Observe and interview the patient/caregiver.
• Apply appropriate assessment procedures.
• Determine short‑ and long‑term goals with patient/caregiver input and establish a plan of care based on goals and evaluation results.
• Implement appropriate therapeutic interventions, progress the treatment plan, and teach patients/caregivers activities to reinforce therapeutic interventions, provide/fit assistive devices, and recognize distress signals requiring follow‑up.
• Document evaluations/re‑evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries; record data required for statistics, billing, and quality improvement activities as appropriate.
• Assist patients in achieving the treatment plan by administering manual therapy interventions where appropriate and using equipment as necessary.
• Utilize the assistance of Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Techs, and volunteers as appropriate; provide supervision as required by regulations.
• Communicate with multidisciplinary team members formally and informally, discussing evaluation findings, patient progress, and other pertinent information.
• Communicate with patients/caregivers to allay anxieties, seek input, and elicit cooperation.
• Participate in performance improvement activities, collect data, and suggest areas for improvement.
• Complete necessary continuing education requirements for licensing purposes.

Physical Requirements

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 75% of work time when administering treatments, observing patients, and maintaining records.

Working Conditions

Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature variations, or similar conditions.

Conditions of Employment

Pay Range

$74,965.56 – $127,441.45
