Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to assist patients in achieving their maximum physical potential as per the Maryland Physical Therapy Practice Act.

This role requires an AA degree from an accredited PT Assistant program and a current Maryland license. The successful candidate will document treatment plans, communicate with patients, and implement therapeutic interventions as instructed by the supervising physical therapist.

The position offers a pay range of $27.32 - $44.80, depending on qualifications and experience.

Job description

Under general supervision of a physical therapist, assists patients in reaching maximum physical potential in accordance with the Maryland Physical Therapy Practice Act.

Locations

Owings Mills, the main GBMC hospital, and the new Texas Station site in Timonium, MD.

Education

• AA degree from an accredited PT Assistant program.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current Maryland license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).

• Ability to manage an average caseload of 2 patients per hour.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides testing information for the physical therapist in the following areas: Range of motion, Sensation, Limb girth/length.
• Establishes, implements, and documents treatment program and progress based upon goals and evaluation results in consultation with the physical therapist.
• Implements appropriate therapeutic interventions, progressing treatment plan and teaching patients/caregivers activities to reinforce therapeutic interventions, providing/fitting appropriate assistive devices, and recognizing patient distress signals that require follow‑up.
• Utilizes the assistance of rehab techs and volunteers for housekeeping, transportation and physical assistance without providing supervision.
• Informs Physical Therapist and Interdisciplinary Team of patient status and progress towards goals; documents communications and changes in treatment plan; communicates with Coordinator regularly.
• Communicates with patient/caregiver to allay anxieties, seek input and elicit cooperation.
• Identifies the need for therapeutic equipment and supplies; communicates information to Coordinator.
• Participates in performance improvement activities, collecting data and suggesting areas for improvement.
• Documents treatment plans and progress; records data required for statistics, productivity, billing, performance improvement program, etc. as appropriate.

Pay Range

$27.32 - $44.80. Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
