Job description

Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restores patient physical functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment goals and plans; administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and in using assistive and supportive devices.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Completing billing sheets accurately by the end of each day.
  2. Evaluating effects of treatment at various stages and adjusting treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  3. Performing patient assessments and establishing plans of care.
  4. Providing in-service education programs for nursing personnel as needed.
  5. Identifying and documenting goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
  6. Discussing evaluation, goals, and treatment with both patients and their families.
  7. Participating in hospital-wide quality process improvement.
  8. Supervising PTAs according to organizational policies and state regulations.
Education and Licensing Requirements:
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy required.
  • State license as a Physical Therapist.
  • Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License preferred.
Experience and Skills:
  • 1-2 years of internship or apprenticeship experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems.
  • Ability to teach others and solve problems effectively.
  • Understanding of accreditation and certification requirements.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, walking, and reaching.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and pulling.
  • Frequent lifting (35 lbs+ with assistive device), carrying, pushing, and balancing.
  • Constant feeling, vision, talking, and hearing.
