Job Description

Physical Therapist, Full-time, outpatient

Location: Aberdeen location, Pavilion III, 515 S. Tollgate Road, Suite 110, Bel Air, MD 21014

Under general supervision, deliver physical therapy services through evaluation of patient needs, goal setting, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of physical therapy.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Provide direct physical therapy services according to accepted standards, Maryland State Physical Therapy Practice Act, code of ethics, and departmental procedures.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations to identify problems requiring physical therapy, selecting appropriate tests and measurements.
  • Set priorities and establish treatment goals that are objective, functional, and measurable, and select suitable treatment modalities.
  • Adjust treatment plans based on patient response; determine when goals are achieved.
  • Maintain patient privacy, provide competent care, and teach patients and families home care and exercise skills.
  • Request assistance from Physical Therapy Assistants, aides, and volunteers as needed.
  • Document evaluations, care provided, and progress in the medical record according to standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and suggest improvements.
  • Address clinical and operational issues with department leadership.
  • Attend and contribute to clinical rounds and conferences; communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Engage in continuing education and suggest topics for in-service training; present relevant information to staff.
  • Supervise and direct work of therapy aides, volunteers, and students.

Qualifications

  • Current Maryland licensure as a Physical Therapist
  • CPR certification
  • New graduates are welcome to apply

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of physical therapy techniques, orthopedics, neurology, trauma, pathology, and general medicine.
  • Familiarity with equipment such as wheelchairs, transfer devices, modalities, and therapeutic equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for working with patients and healthcare personnel.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development across the lifespan.

Compensation:

  • Pay Range: $37.15 - $57.17
