Job summary

Mercy is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to assess and develop individualized treatment plans for adult and geriatric patients at the Fort Smith Chad Colley Rehab Hospital. Under supervision by Therapy Leadership, you will contribute to standards of care and Mercy Service Standards.

The role is full time with responsibilities including direct supervision of patients and coordination with rehabilitation staff, while meeting state practice acts and maintaining current licensure.

Qualifications

• Current State license of Physical Therapy.
• Licensure in state of practice.
• BLS certification required and current before patient care.
• Six months to one year rehabilitation therapy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform objective assessments and develop individualized treatment programs for adults and geriatrics.
• Provide direct supervision to patients and supervision to rehabilitation technicians; supervise PT assistants as allowed by state acts.
• Adhere to Mercy mission, values and service standards in daily care.
• Coordinate with Therapy Leadership to maintain standards and procedures.

Job description

Under the general supervision of Therapy Leadership and according to departmental policies and procedures regarding referral, standards of treatment, performs objective assessments, as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for adult and geriatric patients. Responsible for direct supervision to patients, indirect supervision of rehabilitation technicians. General supervision of PT assistants in accordance with State Practice Acts. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Requirements:

• Education: Current State license of Physical Therapy. Bachelor, Master of Science in Physical Therapy or Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
• Licensure: Current/Temporary license of Physical Therapy in state of practice.
• Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
• Preferred Experience: Six months to one year experience is preferred for Rehabilitation Physical Therapist. Prefer experience with care for adult and geriatric patients.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
