Summary:

Evaluate patients, develop and implement physical therapy treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, and provide treatments such as therapeutic exercises, massages, and modalities. Instruct, motivate, and assist patients and caregivers in activities of daily living. Supervise and direct the efforts of Physical Therapy Assistants, if assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution. Current state license/registration as a Physical Therapist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment programs, plans of care, and discharge plans in conjunction with physicians, adjusting as patient needs change.
  • Provide direct patient care to ensure effective therapy outcomes.
  • Apply heat, light, water, electrical modalities, and other treatments as prescribed, with competency and proper equipment.
  • Plan and prioritize treatments and travel to maximize efficiency and meet patient needs.
  • Ensure all orders are carried out professionally, respecting ethics, patient rights, and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with other healthcare providers involved in patient care.
  • Coordinate therapy services with other disciplines and participate in interdisciplinary care conferences.
  • Adhere to the company's mission, ethics, and standards of behavior.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and team collaboration.
  • Maintain respectful interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ensure proper attendance, punctuality, and adherence to productivity standards.
  • Communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
  • Attend meetings, in-services, and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Educate patients and families as appropriate, and perform in-service training as needed.
  • Use proper coding for billing and maintain appropriate patient loads.
  • Follow infection control protocols and standard precautions.
  • Support department goals through teamwork and additional assignments as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in accordance with policies and laws.

Physical Demands:

Lift up to 50 pounds, perform transfers, reposition patients, and conduct repetitive upper extremity movements. Exposure to unsanitary conditions and high-crime areas may occur.
